LDS Temple News Presents the Provo Utah Rock Temple

On November 29, 2025, the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple photo was taken. The journey to this remarkable temple began with an announcement from the late Prophet Russell M. Nelson during the October 2021 General Conference, igniting a spark of excitement and vision for a transformative new sanctuary.

As we prepare for the transition on February 24, 2024, when the original temple will close, we stand at the threshold of an inspiring chapter—one that honors the past while boldly stepping into the future. Members of the temple district are invited to continue their sacred practices at neighboring temples, reminding us that our faith endures beyond physical structures, thriving in the hearts of the dedicated community.

Nestled against the striking backdrop of Rock Canyon, the new Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple will be a sanctuary of serenity and inspiration. Its location, a testament to the beauty of creation, will embrace towering mountains and lush landscapes, inviting all who visit to reflect and reconnect with their spiritual journeys. With cascading water features and vibrant gardens filled with diverse flora, the temple grounds will become a living testament to the divine artistry present in nature.

With an impressive size of approximately 163,000 square feet on a generous 17-acre site, the new temple will be a haven for spiritual growth. Featuring six instruction rooms, ten sealing rooms, and two baptistries, it is designed to meet the needs of all who seek solace, guidance, and connection in this sacred space. The renaming of the temple to the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple is a celebration of its geographical significance, embodying the spirit of unity and purpose among its community.

As reconstruction progresses, the anticipated completion in late 2027 promises to unveil a stunning structure that harmoniously blends tradition with contemporary elegance. With long, graceful arched windows and a majestic multi-level tower topped with a golden spire, this temple will not only be a place of worship but a beacon of light and hope in the valley.

Every detail is being meticulously crafted to prioritize safety, resilience, and sustainability. Designed to meet current seismic codes and equipped with energy-efficient systems, the temple will stand as a testament to our commitment to protecting the environment and nurturing the world around us.

At the entry, three grand white arches will welcome all who approach, radiating warmth and hospitality. The beautifully designed grounds, with their thoughtfully curated landscaping of native, drought-tolerant plants, will create a sanctuary where the beauty of nature enhances the spiritual experience. Manicured gardens and tranquil water features will invite visitors to pause, reflect, and find peace in their hearts.

As the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple takes shape, it becomes clear that this new house of worship is destined to be much more than a physical structure; it will embody the collective dreams and aspirations of a community united in faith. Here, in this sacred space, hearts will be uplifted, spirits rejuvenated, and connections with the divine deepened.

In the spirit of hope and renewal, the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple will stand as a cherished landmark—a sanctuary where every visitor can experience the beauty of faith, the strength of community, and the boundless love of God. It promises to be a loving embrace for all who enter, an inspiring retreat, and a radiant light of peace illuminating the path for generations to come.
