The Moses Lake Washington Temple stands proudly as the 182nd dedicated temple in operation. Announced by Prophet Russell M. Nelson during the 189th Annual General Conference, this temple has quickly become a cornerstone of faith and community. With an impressive 290,000 visitors attending its open house, it’s clear that this sacred space has made a powerful impact.
On September 17, 2023, Apostle Quentin L. Cook dedicated the temple, marking a momentous occasion that reaffirms the strength and unity of the community. The path to this dedication began with a groundbreaking and site dedication on October 10, 2020, led by Brother Stapleton, laying a strong foundation for a place of worship that inspires all who enter.
The official rendering, released on April 7, 2020, showcased an extraordinary single-story building of approximately 20,000 square feet topped by a striking central spire. The additional meetinghouse next door, covering around 17,000 square feet, provides ample space for gatherings and strengthens the ties within the community.
The exterior of the temple, crafted from exquisite Branco Cristal granite quarried in Portugal, speaks volumes to its grandeur. Standing at a height of 117 feet and perched at an elevation of 1,157 feet, it commands attention and respect while harmonizing with the surrounding landscape. Inside, the temple features two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a beautifully designed baptistry, all thoughtfully created to enhance the worship experience.
The enchanting blossom motif pays homage to natural beauty and renewal, complemented by a border pattern that honors the region’s Native American heritage. This connection to history enriches the temple’s significance and reflects a deep appreciation for the area’s roots.
As you step inside, you’ll immediately notice the impressive flooring made of marble, carpet, and porcelain tile. The art glass reflects the exterior design, creating a cohesive and peaceful atmosphere. Bronze and glass railings add a sophisticated touch, emphasizing the attention to detail throughout.
Every element, from the cherry-finished doors to the finely crafted bronze and brass hardware, showcases a commitment to quality and beauty. The celestial room invites awe, featuring a decorative ceiling adorned with exquisite paintwork, coffers, and a magnificent dome.
The Moses Lake Washington Temple is not merely a building; it is a powerful symbol of faith, community, and heritage. It confidently stands as a sanctuary for all who seek solace and connection. We invite you to experience its inspiring beauty and warmth firsthand.
