Architectural Features

Exquisite Design Elements

The Moses Lake Washington Temple spans a total floor area of 28,933 square feet and stands at a height of 117 feet, situated at an elevation of 1,157 feet. Its exterior is crafted from Branco Cristal granite, sourced from Portugal, ensuring a timeless appearance. Insulated concrete forms create the walls, topped with a steel roof and spire.

A unique architectural highlight includes the central spire, which adds to the Temple’s profile. Two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and one baptistry provide various spaces within.

Floral Motifs and Cultural Reflections

The design incorporates a blossom motif, with border patterns that reflect a prairie-style design, honoring the Native Americans who were the original inhabitants of the Moses Lake area before significant settlement occurred. The flooring throughout the Temple combines marble, carpet, and porcelain tile, creating a warm yet elegant atmosphere.

The details continue with the interior art glass echoing the exterior design, providing a cohesive visual experience. Font railings crafted from bronze and glass, along with doors finished in cherry and painted maple, enhance the structure’s aesthetic appeal.

Interior Finishing Touches

The celestial room boasts a beautifully decorated ceiling with intricate paint, coffers, and a dome, further adding to the Temple’s charm. The use of cherry wood, a species indigenous to North America, reinforces the connection to the local environment.

Through its design and materials, the Moses Lake Washington Temple stands as a testament to careful planning and consideration for both beauty and cultural significance.
