LDS Temple News Presents Orem Utah Temple a House of the Lord

Welcome to the Orem Utah Temple, a beautiful new addition to the community and the 188th dedicated temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! Located at 1451 S 1100 W, this stunning temple is a place of peace and inspiration for everyone.

The excitement began on October 5, 2019, when the temple was announced, and the anticipation built even more with the groundbreaking ceremony on September 5, 2020, led by Elder Craig C. Christensen. It was a special occasion, even with the limitations of the pandemic, and it included members of the Williamson family, who once owned the land where the temple now stands—how neat is that?

After much eager waiting, the public open house took place from October 27 to December 16, 2023, inviting all to explore its lovely design and calming atmosphere before the official dedication. The temple sits on a spacious 15.39 acres and features a breathtaking exterior made of pedras salgadas granite from Portugal, along with beautiful bronze-colored doors that welcome visitors warmly.

As you approach, you can’t help but admire the temple’s lovely architecture, complete with a graceful spire that turns heads. Inside, there’s plenty of room—71,998 square feet, to be exact—filled with four instruction rooms and four sealing rooms, plus a baptistry, all designed to be inviting and peaceful.

One of the temple’s highlights is its gorgeous windows, featuring art glass that celebrates the local cherry blossoms and picturesque wetlands around Utah Lake. It’s like bringing the beauty of nature right into the temple! The interior flooring is unique, showcasing stunning Crema Marfil marble from Turkey with lovely patterns that create a warm and welcoming vibe.

The landscaping around the temple is as charming as it gets, with Norwegian sunset maples, snow queen hydrangeas, and lots of colorful plants that make the grounds a lovely place to stroll and reflect.

Elder Christensen beautifully described the Orem Utah Temple as “an added refuge of strength in an increasingly uncertain world.” It’s a place where community members can gather, strengthen their faith, and find peace. At the time of the announcement, there were 26 stakes in the Orem area, and the community keeps growing strong!

The Orem Utah Temple is more than just a building; it’s a friendly and inviting haven where everyone can come to experience joy, tranquility, and connection. We can’t wait to see how it continues to bless our community!
