Welcome to the Orem Utah Temple, a beautiful addition to the heart of the community that serves as the 188th dedicated temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! Located at 1451 S 1100 W, this temple is not just a place of worship; it’s a peaceful haven for everyone seeking a little extra solace and joy in their lives.
Excitement filled the air when the temple was announced on October 5, 2019. Fast forward to September 5, 2020, and we saw the groundbreaking ceremony, led by Elder Craig C. Christensen. Even though we were navigating the challenges of the pandemic, the event was special, with the Williamson family in attendance—the very family who sold the land where the temple now stands. It’s amazing to see such history come together!
After much anticipation, the public open house from October 27 to December 16, 2023, offered everyone a chance to stroll through this stunning space before its official dedication. The temple is nestled on 15.39 acres, gleaming with beautiful pedras salgadas granite from Portugal and adorned with inviting bronze-colored doors.
As you step closer, you’ll notice the elegant architecture, featuring a striking three-story structure topped with a charming, slender spire. Inside, the temple boasts 71,998 square feet of lovingly created sacred space, including four instruction rooms, four sealing rooms, and one baptistry—perfect spots for spiritual growth and connection.
One of the highlights you can’t miss are the lovely windows, crafted with taupe-hued art glass that reflects cherry blossoms and the local wetlands around Utah Lake. They beautifully connect the temple to the natural beauty outside. And don’t forget to look down! The interior flooring dazzles with Crema Marfil marble from Turkey, showcasing pretty patterns in shades of red, green, and brown that invite you to pause and admire.
The surrounding landscape is just as inviting, featuring vibrant Norwegian sunset maples, cheerful snow queen hydrangeas, and whimsical whirling butterflies, making it a perfect backdrop for reflection and tranquility.
Elder Christensen shared his heartfelt vision for the temple, calling it “an added refuge of strength in an increasingly uncertain world.” It’s a wonderful reminder that this temple is here for everyone—a place to find comfort, hope, and community. With the Orem area growing rapidly, boasting 26 stakes at the time of its announcement, this temple is truly a beacon for all who come.
The Orem Utah Temple is more than just a building; it’s a friendly space that welcomes all to experience peace and joy. Whether you’re a member of the church or just curious about the beauty of the temple, everyone is invited to come and feel the warmth and spirituality it offers!
