The Saratoga Springs Utah Temple, the 179th dedicated Temple in operation, holds a significant place in the landscape of Utah. Nestled at 987 South Ensign Drive in Saratoga Springs, Utah, this remarkable site embodies a blend of modern architecture and regional artistry.
Historical Context
Announced on April 2, 2017, by Prophet Thomas S. Monson, the Saratoga Springs Utah Temple became part of a proud tradition, joining the ranks of 16 dedicated Temples in Utah at the time. With the groundbreaking and site dedication occurring on October 19, 2019, under the direction of Craig C. Christensen, its journey towards completion began.
The public open house, spanning April 15, 2023, through July 8, 2023, saw an impressive 587,809 guests touring the House of the Lord, culminating in the dedication on August 13, 2023, by Apostle Henry B. Eyring.
Architectural Features
Covering 97,836 square feet, the Saratoga Springs Utah Temple sits elevated at 4,652 feet, overlooking Utah Lake and the Wasatch Front. The exterior features beige precast concrete panels, reinforced with glass fiber, while the building itself comprises steel with concrete shear walls and floor slabs. A decorative mountain design wraps around the exterior, harmonizing with Utah Lake wetlands and snowy egrets, which also represent the logo of Saratoga Springs City.
Unique Design Elements
The artistic touches in this Temple continue with art glass inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement, showcasing hues and forms reflecting the natural surroundings. Custom patterns in the flooring, from the soft carpet in waiting areas to the intricate mosaics in the baptismal font, emphasize a deep connection to the local environment.
Interior Decoration
Inside, stylized flowers represent the wild flora of the region, such as irises and daisies. The baptistry features flowing designs reminiscent of nearby water sources, enhancing the serene ambiance.
Illumination and Materials
The Temple is adorned with decorative light fixtures in the bride’s room, crafted by Schonbek with Swarovski Crystal. The thoughtful selection of Sapele African mahogany for millwork and doors combines elegance with tradition, each element meticulously designed to resonate with the overall aesthetic.

Original artwork displayed within the Temple includes pieces by notable artists such as Brad Aldridge and Ken Stockton, integrating local themes and landscapes into its embrace.
Surrounding Landscape and Facilities
Occupying 22.71 acres, the site incorporates local plant species to promote sustainability, while an elevated plaza facing east creates a picturesque lookout over the valley. It is also complemented by a meetinghouse located in the same parking lot, providing additional space for functions related to the Temple.
