The Provo Utah Temple is set to undergo a significant transformation, with demolition and reconstruction beginning after the dedication of the Orem Utah Temple. The current temple will officially close on February 24, 2024, ending its ordinances and allowing for the construction of a new facility. Members in the area are encouraged to use nearby temples during this time.

The new Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple will be located on Provo’s east bench, at the mouth of Rock Canyon, surrounded by stunning mountain views. Its grounds will feature a cascading water feature and various plants, celebrating the region’s natural beauty. The temple will be conveniently located near the Provo Missionary Training Center, enhancing the area’s spirit of dedication.

Covering approximately 163,000 square feet on a 17-acre site, the temple will include six instruction rooms, ten sealing rooms, and two baptistries, designed to accommodate temple patrons in a welcoming environment. It will be renamed the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple on February 20, 2024, following the official closure and demolition of the original structure.

The new design will blend traditional and contemporary styles, featuring elegant arched windows and a multi-level tower with a golden spire. It will comply with current seismic codes and include energy-efficient systems for sustainability.

A defining aspect of the design will be three grand white arches at the entrance, welcoming visitors. The construction will incorporate modern materials, and unlike the previous temple, the new design will not have the Angel Moroni statue on its spire.

The 17-acre grounds will combine hardscaping and landscaping, using native, drought-tolerant plants to support sustainability. Picturesque water features will enhance the serene atmosphere, and the gardens will feature terraces and walkways that balance structured and organic styles.

Overall, the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple is poised to become a significant place of worship and a lovely sanctuary that reflects its beautiful surroundings and the values of its visitors. Its focus on modern design, sustainability, and spiritual significance will make it a cherished landmark.
