The Saratoga Springs Utah Temple stands as the 179th dedicated Temple in operation, a remarkable addition to the landscape of Utah. Located at 987 South Ensign Drive, Saratoga Springs, Utah 84045, this Temple has quickly become an integral part of the area.
Construction and Design Elements
The journey of the Saratoga Springs Utah Temple began with an announcement on April 2, 2017, by the Prophet Thomas S. Monson, at a time when Utah had 16 dedicated Temples. The groundbreaking and site dedication took place on October 19, 2019, led by Craig C. Christensen.
Spanning 97,836 square feet, this Temple sits on a scenic 22.71-acre site overlooking Utah Lake and the Wasatch Front. The elevation of the Temple is 4,652 feet, providing a breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape.
Architectural Features
The Temple’s exterior is finished with beige precast concrete panels, eight inches thick, complemented by a spire made of glass fiber reinforced concrete. The architectural design features a central spire topped with a gold leafed Angel Moroni Statue, symbolizing faith and hope.
The aesthetic design includes a decorative band around the exterior that embodies mountain designs, while the metal panels represent Utah Lake wetlands and snowy egrets—symbols of Saratoga Springs City. The art glass features objects inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement with colors reflecting the natural beauty of Utah Lake and the Wasatch Mountains, presented in purples, blues, greens, and golds.
Interior Highlights
Inside, the Temple boasts four instruction rooms, six sealing rooms, and one baptistry. The interior flooring combines various materials including carpet, porcelain tile, and stone, creating a richly textured environment. Custom patterns add an artistic flair to the carpets, especially in the bride’s room and waiting areas.
The restroom floors are designed with “rug-like” patterns, and the baptismal font is highlighted by Mosaic Brillante glass tiles in shades of blues, whites, creams, and purples. This meticulous approach extends to the decorative paint, which features stylized flowers such as iris and daisy, representing the wildflowers of the local area.
Artistic Elements
The art glass throughout the Temple showcases nature-inspired designs, further enriching the atmosphere. Notably, the main level features art glass at the baptistry that depicts snowy egrets among grasses, connecting back to the city’s logo.
Custom light fixtures in the bride’s room include Schonbek fixtures adorned with Swarovski crystals from Austria, reflecting elegance. The font railings, made of antique brass and Sapele African mahogany, complement the overall design theme, which embraces a blend of nature and artistry.

The originality of the Temple is emphasized through pieces such as “Evening, Distant Mountain” by Brad Aldridge and “Evening Flight” by Adair Payne. These pieces capture the beauty of the surrounding landscapes and contribute to the Temple’s unique character.
Community Impact
The public open house for the Saratoga Springs Utah Temple ran from April 15, 2023, to July 8, 2023, attracting 587,809 guests who toured this House of the Lord. Dedicated on August 13, 2023, by Apostle Henry B. Eyring, the Temple holds a significant place in the lives of many.
As the eighteenth Temple built in Utah and the fifth in Utah County, following notable predecessors like the Provo Utah Temple and the Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple, the Saratoga Springs Utah Temple adds to the spiritual and architectural fabric of the region.
The addition of a meetinghouse in the same parking lot further enhances its function within the area. With new homes being developed around it, the Saratoga Springs Utah Temple stands as a testament to growth and connection within this evolving community.
