The holiday season is truly magical at the global headquarters of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where a beloved tradition lights up Temple Square! Each year, the church dazzles visitors with Christ Centered displays and a wealth of free activities, making it a festive highlight in downtown Salt Lake City.
This year, even more areas of Temple Square are open for exploration as renovations continue, allowing everyone to enjoy the twinkling lights and enchanting atmosphere. While some areas around the scaffold covered Salt Lake Temple are still closed, the anticipation builds for the grand open house celebration set to take place in April 2027, marking the temple’s reopening!
The stunning light displays illuminate the open areas of Temple Square daily from 6:00 to 8:00 a.m. and then again from 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. until January 1st. And Temple Square isn’t the only place aglow be sure to check out the beautiful Christmas tree in City Creek Center, the festive candy windows at Macy’s, the seasonal installation The Turning Season at Eccles Theater, and the delightful ice rink at Gallivan Center, all ready to welcome visitors.

The Roof Restaurant Located on the top floor of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, the recently remodeled Roof has reopened and is now taking holiday reservations. Enjoy breathtaking views alongside delicious holiday cuisine!
Church History Museum Explore Victorian Christmas decor and enjoy live musical performances from local community and school groups in the museum’s auditorium. Open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, it’s a perfect stop for holiday spirit!
Conference Center Stroll through large, Christmasthemed artwork on display throughout January. The center is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Saturday, making it an ideal time to appreciate the seasonal decor.
Music and the Spoken Word Experience the joy of live performances every Sunday at 9:30 a.m. in the Conference Center. Don’t miss the special show on December 14th featuring Block and Arcelusit, which is free and open to everyone!
Savior of the World This captivating theatrical experience runs through December 27th (except Sundays and Mondays) at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the Little Theater. While tickets are in high demand, a standby line will be available for those hoping to catch a seat.
