Welcome to the Palmyra New York Temple, a remarkable landmark that stands proudly at 2720 Temple Rd in Palmyra, New York. As the 77th temple in operation, this site is not just a building—it’s a symbol of faith, history, and community.

The journey of the Palmyra New York Temple began with an exciting announcement on February 21, 1999, followed by a significant groundbreaking ceremony on May 25, 1999, led by Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley. Following the public open house from March 25 to April 1, 2000, the temple was officially dedicated on April 6, 2000—coincidentally marking 170 years since the founding of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in nearby Fayette, New York.

This stunning temple, crafted from exquisite Bethel white granite, commands attention with its elegant spire topped by a magnificent gold angel Moroni statue. Inside, visitors are welcomed into a spacious 10,900 square feet, featuring two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry, all designed to enhance spiritual experiences and personal growth.

Perched at an elevation of 578 feet, the temple offers breathtaking views, rising just beyond the historic Sacred Grove—the sacred site where Joseph Smith experienced his pivotal vision in the spring of 1820. This temple holds the distinction of being the very first built in New York and is the 100th temple announced by the Church, highlighting its importance within the greater religious community.

Nestled on the original Smith Family Farm, covering 100 acres of serene land, the Palmyra New York Temple is a haven for reflection and devotion. Its stained glass windows, beautifully etched with scenes from the Sacred Grove, serve as a testament to the rich heritage and spiritual significance of this remarkable site.

The Palmyra New York Temple stands as a beacon of faith, inviting all who seek to experience its sacred spaces. It is a celebration of history, a source of inspiration, and a cornerstone of the community—it’s a must-visit destination for anyone seeking peace and purpose.
