Monson announced its construction on January 25, 2010. Groundbreaking took place on October 8, 2011, with over 7,000 friends and family members in attendance, even though it was a bit drizzly and chilly at 32 degrees! Prophet Dallin H. Oaks led the ceremony, envisioning the temple as a guiding light for everyone passing by on I-15. 

Fast forward to April 24 through May 23, 2015, and the temple welcomed an amazing 475,542 visitors during its public open house! Just imagine all the families and friends exploring its stunning rooms before the big dedication on June 7, 2015, led by Apostle Henry B. Eyring.

Spanning 10.63 acres, the temple features beautiful cream precast concrete panels and sports a striking central spire topped with a golden angel Moroni statue, rising to an impressive height of 208 feet. Inside, you’ll find three instruction rooms, seven sealing rooms, and a baptistry, all wrapped in 96,630 square feet of peaceful space.
