The journey of this remarkable temple started on January 25, 2010, when Prophet Thomas S. Monson announced it, sharing his heartfelt belief that temples provide solace from life’s storms and offer blessings to all who enter. Just imagine the excitement in the air on October 8, 2011, at the groundbreaking ceremony, where Prophet Dallin H. Oaks led a gathering of over seven thousand people, despite the chilly weather and a sprinkle of rain! His inspiring words highlighted the temple’s future role, saying it would be a “dominant and visible influence” for everyone passing by.
Fast forward to April 24 through May 23, 2015, when the doors opened for the public open house! Over 475,542 visitors came by to tour the temple and admire its beauty before the grand dedication on June 7, 2015, by Apostle Henry B. Eyring.
This magnificent temple is built on 10.63 acres and dazzles with its cream precast concrete panels and a striking central spire topped with a lovely gold-leafed angel Moroni statue, soaring 208 feet into the sky! Inside, you’ll find three instruction rooms, seven sealing rooms, and a baptistry, all within its spacious 96,630 square feet.
