LDS Temple News Presents the Payson Utah Temple

Nestled in the heart of Payson, Utah, the Payson Utah Temple stands as the 146th dedicated temple, a beacon of faith and purpose. Announced by Prophet Thomas S. Monson on January 25, 2010, the temple is much more than a place of Temple ; it serves as a sanctuary, nurturing those soulful inquiries about life’s purpose and our journey through existence. Monson beautifully emphasized its significance, noting, “Temples answer those soul-searching questions… They are sanctuaries from the storms of life.”

The journey to its completion began with a groundbreaking ceremony on October 8, 2011, led by Prophet Dallin H. Oaks, where over seven thousand gathered despite a light rain and chilly 32-degree weather. Oaks shared an inspiring vision of the temple’s influence, stating, “Standing adjacent to I-15, the major north-south artery in Utah, the Payson Utah Temple will be a dominant and visible influence on the millions who pass by here by day and by night.”

Fast forward to the public open house from April 24 to May 23, 2015, where an astounding 475,542 visitors had the opportunity to tour the Temple and appreciate its sacred beauty before its official dedication on June 7, 2015, by Apostle Henry B. Eyring.

Covering 10.63 acres, the Payson Utah Temple features striking cream precast concrete panels and is crowned with a stunning gold-leafed statue of the angel Moroni atop its central spire, reaching an impressive height of 208 feet. Inside, it houses three instruction rooms, seven sealing rooms, and a baptistry, all within its expansive 96,630 square feet.

Located at 1494 S 930 W, Payson, Utah, 84651, this temple not only enhances the city’s skyline but enriches the spiritual lives of countless individuals. It serves as a testament to faith, community, and the beauty of belief, inviting all to explore its sacred halls and discover the peace that resides within.
