Fast forward to September 17, 2011, when the temple’s groundbreaking ceremony took place, led by Apostle Henry B. Eyring. What a fantastic moment that must have been!
After years of hard work and dedication, the temple opened its doors for a public open house from August 10 to September 6, 2016. Over 140,000 people came to explore its stunning spaces, which is simply amazing! The official dedication happened shortly after, on September 18, 2016, with Apostle Eyring once again at the helm, marking a wonderful day for everyone involved.
Spanning 1.6 acres, the temple’s striking exterior is clad in beautiful white granite, perfectly blending with the charming buildings around it. The granite, sourced from Maine and crafted in Canada, gives the temple a unique and elegant look. You’ll love its two graceful spires topped with a sparkling gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue, inviting everyone to come and feel the spirit inside.
Inside, the temple covers a spacious 61,466 square feet. Its design draws inspiration from the American Georgian period, giving it a cozy yet grand atmosphere. The lovely flooring and exquisite details reflect a wonderful craftsmanship, with stones sourced from Egypt and artfully worked in Italy. And don’t miss the beautiful brass lamps that light up the halls with warmth!
For those looking to partake in sacred ordinances, the temple features two instruction rooms, four sealing rooms, and a peaceful baptistry with a unique bronze railing and elegant glass panels. Plus, there’s a handy distribution building just north of the temple for easy access to resources.
