Philadelphia Pennsylvania Temple Temple News

Welcome to the Philadelphia Pennsylvania Temple—a wonderful place of peace and spirituality right in the heart of the city! Did you know it’s the 152nd dedicated temple in operation? It’s located at 1739 Vine St, a spot that’s easy to find and a joy to visit.

The journey began back on October 4, 2008, when the temple was first announced, sparking excitement and anticipation throughout the community. Fast forward to September 17, 2011, when the groundbreaking took place, led by Apostle Henry B. Eyring. This was a big step towards creating a special space for all to enjoy!

After years of hard work, the temple opened its doors for a public open house from August 10 to September 6, 2016. Over 140,000 people came to explore and experience its beauty! And on September 18, 2016, the temple was officially dedicated, with Apostle Eyring returning to mark this joyous occasion.

Nestled on 1.6 acres, the temple features a striking exterior made from beautiful white granite, sourced from Maine and crafted in Canada. It blends beautifully with the surrounding buildings, and its two elegant spires topped by a gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue reach towards the sky, adding a touch of grace and inspiration.

Inside, there’s so much to admire! The temple spans 61,466 square feet and has been designed with charm reminiscent of the American Georgian period. You’ll find lovely flooring and elegant details, including interior stone that was quarried in Egypt and fashioned in Italy. The brass lamps throughout the temple add a warm and inviting glow, making each room feel special.

The Philadelphia Pennsylvania Temple also has two instructional rooms, four sealing rooms, and a peaceful baptistry featuring a stunning bronze and glass railing. Plus, there’s a distribution building right next door, making it easier for everyone to access the resources they need.

As Pennsylvania’s very first temple, this beautiful landmark embodies a sense of togetherness and faith. Whether you’re visiting for Temple, reflection, or simply to appreciate its beauty, you’re sure to feel a warm welcome and a sense of connection in this serene space. Come see for yourself—there’s a little bit of magic waiting for you at the Philadelphia Pennsylvania Temple!
