The announcement for the Phoenix Arizona Temple came on May 24, 2008, from the Prophet Thomas S. Monson. He emphasized the importance of the Temple by stating, “The blessings of the Temple are eternal. Those who come to this holy house will feel of God’s love for His children and come to a greater understanding of their own divine origin and potential as His sons and daughters.” The groundbreaking ceremony took place on June 4, 2011, officiated by Apostle Ronald A. Rasband.
The anticipation within the community grew as the public open house was held from October 10th through November 1, 2014. This event allowed many individuals to explore the interior before the formal dedication, which occurred on November 16, 2014, again officiated by Thomas S. Monson.
Architectural Features
The Phoenix Arizona Temple spans an impressive 64,870 square feet and is situated on 5.19 acres. The height of the Temple reaches 90 feet, perched at an elevation of 1,388 feet. The exterior finish features precast integral colored concrete panels, creating a visually stunning façade.
Distinctive Elements
One of the most recognizable features is the single attached central spire crowned with a gold leafed Angel Moroni Statue. This statue was placed atop the Temple on May 15, 2013, contributing to its striking profile against the Arizona sky.
Inside, the Temple showcases two instruction rooms, four sealing rooms, and a baptistry. The interior is adorned with art glass inspired by the Agave plant and its blossoms, creating a unique connection to the local environment. The murals within the instruction rooms portray the beautiful Arizona landscape, further enhancing the ambiance.
Celestial Room and Materials Used
The Celestial Room stands out for its beautiful stained-glass skylight, offering a serene and uplifting atmosphere. The interior doors are crafted from African Sapele wood, while the door hardware is elegantly made of bronze. The exterior doors also feature durable bronze, and the railings surrounding the baptismal font continue this theme with bronze materials.

Adjacent to the Phoenix Arizona Temple is a chapel sharing the same parking lot, offering another space for spiritual gatherings in the area.
