The Pocatello Idaho Temple is located at 3100 Butte St, Pocatello, Idaho 83201. Its announcement came on April 2, 2017, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the community. The groundbreaking took place on March 16, 2019, officiated by Elder Wilford W. Andersen, laying the foundation for what would become a cherished site.
The public had the opportunity to experience a special open house from September 18th through October 23rd, 2021, where a total of 250,721 people attended. This event paved the way for the dedication, which occurred on November 7, 2021, led by Apostle M. Russell Ballard. His words during the dedication emphasized the importance of faith and the blessings associated with the Temple.
Architectural Features and Design Elements
The Pocatello Idaho Temple is constructed on a sprawling 10.94 acres and features an exterior of white granite sourced from China. The architectural design includes a single attached central spire topped with a gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue, creating an impressive silhouette against the sky.
Inside, the Temple encompasses 71,125 square feet and is three stories high. It includes four instruction rooms, four sealing rooms, and one baptistry. Visitors can find a stunning chapel area adorned with a stained glass window depicting Jesus Christ holding a Lamb. The grand staircase, clad in travertine limestone, adds to the elegance of the interior.

The landscape surrounding the Temple complements its beauty. Over 500 trees and thousands of flowers have been thoughtfully planted. Dominant trees on site include Norwegian sunset maple, sawleaf zelkova, and Dolgo crabapple. The carefully selected shrubs, like English lavender and snow queen hydrangea, provide bursts of color, while white firs, alpine firs, and lodgepole pines line the perimeter, mirroring the natural beauty of the nearby mountains.

Interestingly, the history of the Pocatello Idaho Temple dates back to the 1930s when plans for a Temple in the area were originally proposed. However, complications involving water delayed these aspirations until the eventual announcement in 2017.
