The announcement of the Pocatello Idaho Temple took place on April 2, 2017, marking the beginning of an exciting chapter for the area. The groundbreaking occurred on March 16, 2019, officiated by Elder Wilford W. Andersen. After years of anticipation, an open house was held from September 18 to October 23, 2021, attracting 250,721 attendees. The Temple was officially dedicated on November 7, 2021, by Apostle M. Russell Ballard. During the dedication, Elder Ballard expressed heartfelt blessings, emphasizing the significance of faith and devotion.

Exterior Details
The Temple is built on an expansive 10.94 acres, featuring a striking white granite facade sourced from China. Its remarkable architectural design includes a single central spire topped with a gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue, creating a majestic silhouette against the skyline. Visible from Interstate 15 and Interstate 86, the Temple is an impressive sight for passersby.
Interior Features
Inside, the Pocatello Idaho Temple boasts a total area of 71,125 square feet, spread across three stories. The interior includes four instruction rooms, four sealing rooms, and one baptistry, providing ample space for various activities. A grand staircase clad in travertine limestone adds to the aesthetic appeal. The chapel area features a notable stained glass depiction of Jesus Christ holding a Lamb.

The stained glass windows are exquisite, portraying the wildflowers of the Idaho mountain desert, including the state’s beloved syringa flower and the bitterroot. Landscaping and Environment
Surrounding the Temple are over 500 trees and thousands of flowers, creating a vibrant environment. The prominent tree species include Norwegian sunset maple, sawleaf zelkova, and Dolgo crabapple. Ornamental shrubs like English lavender and snow queen hydrangea contribute bright colors and fragrant scents. Additionally, white firs, alpine firs, and lodgepole pines have been strategically planted to reflect the local mountainous areas.
Historical Significance
Despite plans for a Temple in Pocatello dating back to the 1930s, issues such as water obstacles delayed its realization until the announcement in 2017. This Temple is the sixth one built in Idaho, marking an important milestone in the region’s history.
