Exploring the Tampa Florida Temple
The Tampa Florida Temple, located at 9445 Camden Fields Parkway, Riverview, Florida, represents a significant addition to the area, enriching the local culture and spiritual landscape.
Rendering of the Tampa Florida Temple
The journey to the Tampa Florida Temple began with an announcement made by the Prophet during the General Conference on April 3, 2022. This moment set the stage for what would become a focal point in Riverview and Hillsborough County.
Groundbreaking Ceremony
The groundbreaking and site dedication took place on August 23, 2025. Apostle Neil L. Anderson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles presided over this important event. During the site dedicatory prayer, Elder Anderson expressed a desire for the Tampa Florida Temple to serve as a light and strength to the local population: “We ask that Thou might bless this land and this sacred house once constructed, that it might be a light and strength to the Latter-day Saints and to all the community.” This prayer emphasized the hope for the temple to positively influence both members of the faith and those who live nearby.
Architectural Features
Covering an area of 29,000 square feet and built on 12 acres, the Tampa Florida Temple showcases an elegant exterior finish in granite. It features a single attached end spire, reflecting a streamlined architectural style. Notably, it does not include the traditional Gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue.
Interior Layout
Within the Tampa Florida Temple, there are two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and one baptistry. These various spaces are designed to accommodate a range of activities and purposes, making the facility versatile for its intended use.
Elevation and Design
The design includes a single-story layout, optimizing accessibility. The elevation of the Tampa Florida Temple positions it prominently in the landscape, ensuring that it is both aesthetically pleasing and functional.
Significance in Florida
The Tampa Florida Temple holds the distinction of being the first Temple built in Riverview and Hillsborough County. It is also noteworthy as the fourth Temple in the state of Florida. This addition not only highlights the growth of the faith in the region but also affirms its commitment to the local communities.
Visions for the Future
The rendering of the Tampa Florida Temple was released on March 20, 2023, providing an exciting glimpse into what is to come. The unveiling occurred alongside President Nelson’s announcement of his 100th Temple, marking a historic moment for the faith’s expansion.
With its thoughtful design and strategic location, the Tampa Florida Temple is set to play a vital role in the spiritual and cultural fabric of Riverview and surrounding areas. As it continues to develop, anticipation builds for the positive impacts it will have on both its members and the broader community.
