Richmond Virginia Temple Rendering
Located at 10915 Staples Mill Rd, Glen Allen, Virginia, 23060, the Richmond Virginia Temple stands out not only for its size but also for its stunning design features. The announcement for its construction was made on April 1, 2018, by Prophet Russell M. Nelson during the 1888th annual General Conference. The groundbreaking and site dedication followed two years later, on April 11, 2020, by Randall K. Bennett.
The public open house took place from March 25 through April 15, 2023, giving many an opportunity to experience the beauty of this new addition before its dedication. The Temple was officially dedicated by Prophet Dallin H. Oaks on May 7, 2023.
Architectural Design and Features
The exterior finish of the Richmond Virginia Temple features Moleanos limestone sourced from Portugal, an elegant choice that enhances its aesthetic appeal. The architectural highlight includes a single attached end spire topped by a striking gold-leafed Angel Moroni.
Interior Insights
Inside, the Temple spans an impressive 39,202 square feet and includes four instruction rooms, three sealing rooms, and one baptistry. Each space is designed with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring a harmonious experience for all who enter.
The height of the Temple reaches 164 feet, sitting at an elevation of 280 feet, allowing it to be a prominent feature in the area.
