Located at 10915 Staples Mill Rd, Glen Allen, Virginia 23060, this Temple represents the first of its kind in Virginia. The announcement for its construction was made on April 1, 2018, by Prophet Russell M. Nelson during the 1888th annual General Conference. The excitement surrounding this announcement led to the groundbreaking and site dedication on April 11, 2020, officiated by Randall K. Bennett.
A Journey to Dedication
The Richmond Virginia Temple opened its doors for a public open house from March 25th through April 15, 2023, allowing many to take a first look at its architectural beauty. The Temple was officially dedicated by Prophet Dallin H. Oaks on May 7, 2023. This series of milestones marks an important chapter for many in the region.
Architectural and Design Features
The Temple’s exterior features a unique Moleanos limestone finish from Portugal, giving it a distinctive appearance. A single attached end spire adorned with a gold-leafed Angel Moroni acts as a striking feature of the design.
Floor Plan and Layout
Spanning 39,202 square feet and standing at a height of 164 feet, the Temple is thoughtfully designed to accommodate various functions. Inside, there are four instruction rooms, three sealing rooms, and one baptistry, meticulously designed for specific purposes.

- Stained Glass Design: The stained glass windows incorporate shades of blue, gold, and red, drawing inspiration from an early American color palette.
