The announcement for the remarkable Raleigh North Carolina Temple came on September 3, 1998, and it officially broke ground on February 6, 1999, under the leadership of Loren C. Dunn. The excitement culminated in a successful public open house from December 3rd to December 11th, 1999, leading up to its dedication over two powerful days, December 18th and 19th, 1999, by the revered Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley.
In 2019, the Raleigh North Carolina Temple opened its doors once again for a second public open house from September 21st to September 28th, further reinforcing its significance in the region. The rededication on October 13, 2019, conducted by Apostle M. Russell Ballard, was a momentous occasion for all involved.
Occupying 3.17 acres, the Raleigh North Carolina Temple features a stunning exterior finished in elegant beige limestone. Its architectural highlight includes a striking single attached spire topped with a gold leafed Angel Moroni statue. Inside, the temple is thoughtfully designed with two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry, all within an impressive 12,864 square feet. Reaching a height of 83 feet 9 inches and sitting at an elevation of 447 feet, the temple truly commands attention.
