The future holds great promise for the faith community in Brazil as the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple prepares for its open house from June 13 to June 27, 2026. This long-awaited addition will be significant for both the spiritual and cultural landscape of the region, offering a place of peace and reflection for its members.

Located at Rua Professor Jose Vieira de Mendonça, 1485 in Engenho Nogueira, Belo Horizonte–MG, this expansive site spans 11.8 acres, providing ample space for its various features. The Temple will encompass a total of 27,000 square feet, designed with architectural elegance that includes a single attached central tower featuring a unique pyramid roof. Notably, it will not have a gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue atop the structure, marking a distinctive choice in its design.

The history of the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple began on April 4, 2021, when Prophet Russell M. Nelson announced its construction during the 191st Annual General Conference. This announcement sparked excitement and anticipation across Brazil, particularly in Minas Gerais, as it marks the first Temple in that state. The groundbreaking and site dedication took place on June 17, 2023, led by Elder Juan A. Uceda, with an attendance of approximately 500 guests. During this significant event, Elder Uceda expressed a heartfelt prayer for the people of the region, asking for divine protection and the uninterrupted progression of the Temple’s construction.

As the opening date approaches, the spiritual significance of the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple becomes increasingly evident. Inside, there will be two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry—a configuration designed to serve the needs of the faithful in the area. The elevation of 2,740 feet adds to its prominence, allowing it to become a guiding light for those in the community.

With a growing membership of over 1.4 million in Brazil and more than 2,100 congregations, the addition of the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple is a response to the expanding faith landscape within the country. It joins the ranks of established Temples strategically located across Brazil, including Belém, Brasília, Campinas, Curitiba, Fortaleza, Manaus, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, São Paulo East, and Salvador.

As the completion date approaches, key milestones are set. The dedication of the Temple is scheduled for August 16, 2026, marking a new chapter for the faithful in Minas Gerais and beyond. The Temple’s anticipated open house will give people an opportunity to experience its beauty and learn more about the beliefs and practices that it embodies.

The Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple stands as a testament to the growth of faith in the region, offering a new space for reflection, teachings, and connection. As preparations continue, the excitement for its opening grows, promising to enrich the spiritual lives of many in the area.
