A map showing the location of the Springfield Missouri
Mark your calendars! The highly anticipated groundbreaking ceremony for the Springfield Missouri Temple is coming Saturday, June 6, 2026—and Elder Aroldo B. Cavalcante of the United States Southeast Area Presidency will lead this momentous celebration.
A Full-Circle Moment for Missouri
There’s something particularly special about this announcement. Missouri holds a treasured place in Church history as the birthplace of the Saints’ vision for Zion during the faith’s formative years. Today, that legacy continues to thrive: over 84,000 Latter-day Saints now call Missouri home, gathering in approximately 180 vibrant congregations across the state.
Adding to Missouri’s Sacred Legacy
This stunning new temple will become the third house of the Lord in Missouri, joining the beloved Kansas City and St. Louis temples in serving the faithful throughout the state.
A Call to Spiritual Renewal
When President Nelson announced this temple in April 2023, he issued an inspiring invitation to all seekers:
“Whatever questions or problems you have, the answer is always found in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. Turn to Him! Follow Him!”
What Makes Temples Different
Unlike Sunday chapels where members gather for weekly worship, temples are sacred spaces where the deepest spiritual promises come to life. Here, members experience peace, receive divine guidance, and make eternal covenants—ensuring families can be bound together forever through Christ’s Atonement and His restored gospel.
