Get ready, Provo! The Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple is on its way, and it’s set to become a spectacular addition to our community. Announced with great anticipation by Prophet Russell M. Nelson on October 3, 2021, this temple is poised to elevate our skyline and our spiritual experiences alike. With construction officially kicking off on February 24, 2024, the excitement is palpable as we look forward to its completion in late 2027!
A New Era in Temple Design
The Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple will grace the landscape with its stunning granite exterior and a central spire that stands a majestic 265 feet tall—making it a beloved landmark for years to come. This temple, measuring an impressive 163,000 square feet, is set on a spacious 17-acre site, providing more room than the previous 15-acre location. Notably, the old road in front of the previous temple has been removed to enhance this new space, creating a serene sanctuary for visitors.
A Unique Design
What makes the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple even more unique is its design. Unlike its predecessor, this temple will feature a clean and elegant spire without the gold-leafed Angel Moroni, which is currently in storage. This decision makes the temple stand out as a symbol of modernity while still paying homage to its rich heritage.
Community and Accessibility
Although the new temple will not share a parking lot with a nearby meeting house, fear not! There is ample parking available just across the street at a designated lot, ensuring accessibility for everyone eager to visit. Nestled at an elevation of approximately 4,876 feet (1,486 meters) above sea level, the temple will offer breathtaking views of the beautiful Rock Canyon, adding to its charm and spiritual atmosphere.

The Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple will be the sixth temple in Utah and will cater to a growing community of faithful members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As of the announcement, there were around 16.8 million members globally and approximately 500 congregations throughout Utah—all eager to find solace and spiritual nourishment within these sacred walls.
