The announcement for the Tijuana Mexico Temple came on October 2, 2010, by Prophet Thomas S. Monson during a General Conference. The official groundbreaking and dedication of the site occurred on August 18, 2012, led by Benjamin De Hoyos, with around 2,000 people present to witness this momentous occasion.
Grand Opening
The public open house ran from October 13 to October 28, 2015, attracting approximately 70,000 guests who toured the Temple. It was later dedicated by Apostle Dieter F. Uchtdorf on December 13, 2015. In his dedicatory prayer, he expressed gratitude and highlighted the importance of the Temple as an answer to the prayers of faithful individuals.

Covering 9.4 acres, the Tijuana Mexico Temple spans an impressive 33,367 square feet and reaches a height of 151 feet, positioned at an elevation of 172 feet. The exterior is adorned with precast concrete cladding and a blend of frosted gold and clear glass, all accented with green terracotta. A fountain, crafted with local cantera stone and traditional Mexican hand-painted tile, aligns with the hacienda architectural style.
