Exciting Developments at the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple
Get ready, Provo! There’s a buzz in the air as we anticipate the groundbreaking new Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple, an architectural marvel set to rise in our beloved community. Announced by Prophet Russell M. Nelson on October 3, 2021, this magnificent temple is more than just a building; it represents faith, hope, and the spirit of our vibrant community.
A New Chapter: The Site
Situated on a spacious 17-acre site, this new temple will outshine its predecessor, which occupied only 15 acres. By eliminating the adjacent road at the old temple’s entrance, you’ll be treated to a more serene and reverent atmosphere as you approach. The temple’s spectacular granite exterior promises to be a stunning visual centerpiece in our landscape.
A Majestic Design
The Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple will feature a single attached central spire that reaches an impressive 265 feet 6 inches (81 meters) into the sky. Unlike its predecessor, the new temple will not feature a gold-leafed Angel Moroni but will house the original statue safely in storage. While some changes are in store, the grandeur and beauty of the temple will undoubtedly capture the hearts of all who visit.
Size Matters!
When completed, this temple will span an astonishing 163,000 square feet, making it one of the largest temples in the area. Imagine walking through its sacred halls and experiencing the peace that comes with such an expansive space. It’s a building designed to serve, uplift, and inspire the 16.8 million members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as well as the 500 congregations throughout Utah.
A Community Hub
One tidbit that may surprise you is that the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple won’t share a parking lot with a meeting house. However, don’t fret! You will find a convenient parking area nestled in the corner across the street, ensuring ample space for everyone eager to experience the temple’s offerings.
