Exciting Developments at the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple! 🕊️

Excitement is building in Provo, Utah, as the highly anticipated Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple begins its journey toward completion! Announced by the Prophet Russell M. Nelson on October 3, 2021, this new sacred space is set to be a stunning addition to the Utah landscape and the sixth temple in the Beehive State.

A Grand Vision Unveiled

Scheduled for completion in late 2027, the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple will occupy a spacious 17-acre site at 2200 Temple Hill Dr, Provo, UT 84604. This is an upgrade from the previous location, which spanned only 15 acres, thanks to the strategic removal of the road at the old temple’s front. With a striking granite exterior, the temple will boast a massive 163,000 square feet of sacred space, standing tall at 81 meters (265 feet 6 inches).

A New Look and Feel

One of the most notable changes is the design choice to forgo the iconic gold-leafed Angel Moroni, which is currently in storage. Instead, the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple will feature a single attached central spire that will surely catch the eye of all who pass by. The modern aesthetic will blend beautifully with the natural backdrop of Rock Canyon, creating a breathtaking sight both day and night.

Community Connections

Though the new temple will not share a parking lot with a nearby meeting house, a conveniently located parking area off to the corner across the street enhances accessibility for visitors and congregation members alike. With approximately 16.8 million members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and over 500 congregations in Utah, the new temple is poised to become a spiritual hub for the faithful.

A Historical Shift

Not just a new building, the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple symbolizes a significant shift in the local community, given its previous iteration was known simply as the Provo Utah Temple until its renaming on February 20, 2024. As construction began on February 24, 2024, the community has rallied around this incredible project, eagerly awaiting a temple that promises to enrich the spiritual lives of its members for generations to come.

Elevated Views, Elevated Spirituality

Situated at an elevation of approximately 4,876 feet (1,486 meters) above sea level, the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple will not only provide a place for worship and reflection but will also offer stunning views of the Wasatch Range. Picture serene moments of meditation and prayer as you gaze upon the majestic mountains, making your spiritual journey even more meaningful.

Looking Ahead

Mark your calendars, because as we look forward to 2027, we can only imagine the countless lives that will be touched by the new Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple! It’s a project that embodies hope, faith, and renewed commitment to community and spirituality.

Stay tuned for more updates as we countdown to what is sure to be an iconic landmark not just for Provo but for the entire state of Utah! ✨
