After nearly two years of meticulous work, the temple was opened to the public during a grand open house from October 8 through October 23, 1999. Thousands of visitors had the opportunity to tour this beautiful house of worship, marveling at its design and peaceful surroundings.
The temple’s dedication followed shortly after, on November 20-21, 1999. Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley sanctified the house of the Lord during this historic event, dedicating it as a sacred space for worship and service.

Designed to reflect both modern elegance and spiritual symbolism, the Billings Montana Temple features Wyoming white dolomite precast concrete on its exterior. The building’s design is distinguished by a striking single central spire topped with a gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue—a universal symbol of the restoration and divine message.
Spanning 30,800 square feet, the temple houses two instruction rooms, three sealing rooms, and a baptistry, offering comprehensive facilities for sacred ordinances and teaching. The temple is situated at an elevation of 3,444 feet and stands as a proud fixture in the Montana landscape.
