A Journey Through Time
The story of this LDS Temple in Boston began on September 30, 1995, when it was first announced. Enthusiasts and followers eagerly anticipated its completion, culminating in the groundbreaking ceremony on June 13, 1997. This important event was led by Apostle Richard G. Scott, marking the beginning of a significant chapter in the region’s history.
After years of hard work, the doors were finally opened to the public from August 29 to September 23, 2000. This open house was an opportunity for many to explore the beautiful grounds and appreciate the intricate details before the official dedication. The reverent moment came on October 1, 2000, when Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley dedicated the temple, marking it as a spiritual milestone for many.
Architectural Elegance
Covering an impressive 69,900 square feet, the temple is not only a center for spiritual activities but also a marvel of architectural design. Constructed with stunning Olympia white granite, the exterior exudes elegance. The centerpiece of its design includes a single attached end spire that enhances its verticality, topped off by the gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue, which was added later on September 21, 2011.
The thoughtfully designed floor plan features four instruction rooms, four sealing rooms, and a single baptistry, catering to various functions and offering a sense of purpose throughout its spaces. At a height of 139 feet, the Boston Massachusetts LDS Temple offers breathtaking views of the surrounding wooded landscape, set at an elevation of 331 feet.
