Exploring the Brigham City Utah Temple

Nestled in the heart of Brigham City, Utah, the Brigham City Utah Temple stands as the 139th dedicated Temple currently in operation. This beautiful building has become a cherished site for many, offering a space for reflection and serenity.

A Rich History

The announcement of the Brigham City Utah Temple came on October 3, 2009, during the 179th Semiannual General Conference, made by Prophet Thomas S. Monson. The excitement surrounding its construction grew with the groundbreaking and site dedication, which took place on July 31, 2010, officiated by Apostle Boyd K. Packer.

After years of anticipation, the public open house was held from August 15th through September 15th, 2012, allowing many to experience its beauty before the dedicatory services took place. On September 23, 2012, Apostle Boyd K. Packer dedicated the Temple, marking a significant milestone for the area.

Architectural Details

Covering an impressive 36,000 square feet and sitting at a height of 165 feet, the Brigham City Utah Temple is constructed on 3.14 acres. It features precast concrete limestone on its exterior, giving it a striking appearance. An iconic element of its design includes two attached end spires crowned with a gold-leafed statue of the Angel Moroni. The installation of this statue was a memorable event, completed in just 50 minutes, witnessed by approximately 5,000 people.

The Temple offers various facilities, including two instruction rooms, three sealing rooms, and one baptistry, which enrich the experience for those who enter its walls. Notably, the Temple does not include a meetinghouse in the same parking lot, making it a dedicated space for its unique purpose.

Accessibility and Amenities

Designed with accessibility in mind, the Brigham City Utah Temple features ample parking. There are 123 surface stalls, 29 street stalls, and 130 underground stalls that can be accessed by driving from the west side of the location. The underground garage is conveniently located, providing easy access for those wishing to visit.

Additionally, the Temple stands on historical grounds where an old school once existed. This connection to history adds to the depth of the experience one may find in this location.

A Place of Serenity

With its location across the street from the Box Elder Tabernacle and its thoughtful architectural details, the Brigham City Utah Temple serves as a peaceful space for individuals seeking solace and reflection. As the fourteenth Temple built in Utah and the first in Box Elder County, it holds a special place in the hearts of many. Whether you admire its architectural elegance or take a moment for personal reflection, the Brigham City Utah Temple is a site worth exploring.
