Nestled in the heart of Brigham City, Utah, the Brigham City Utah Temple stands as the 139th dedicated Temple in operation, with significant importance to the local area and beyond. Located at 250 S Main St, Brigham City, Utah 84302, this beautiful building reflects a rich history and dedication to spiritual service.
A Historic Journey
The Brigham City Utah Temple was announced on October 3, 2009, by Prophet Thomas S. Monson during the 179th Semiannual General Conference. Not much later, the groundbreaking ceremony took place on July 31, 2010, led by Apostle Boyd K. Packer. This marked the beginning of a transformative journey for the local area.
The public was invited to experience the Temple during its open house, which ran from August 15th to September 15th, 2012. Following this period of exploration, the Temple was dedicated on September 23, 2012, again by Apostle Boyd K. Packer, officially marking it open for its intended purposes.
Impressive Design and Features
Covering 3.14 acres, the Brigham City Utah Temple boasts an impressive 36,000 square feet of space, featuring a striking design. Its exterior is adorned with precast concrete limestone, providing a stunning visual impact. Standing at a proud height of 165 feet, the Temple also features two attached end spires, topped by a splendid gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue. The installation of this statue was a noteworthy event, taking just 50 minutes and witnessed by approximately 5,000 spectators.
Inside, the Temple is designed for various purposes, including two instruction rooms, three sealing rooms, and one baptistry, allowing for a range of sacred activities.
Accessibility and Convenience
The Brigham City Utah Temple has made provisions for easy access with ample parking, which includes 123 surface stalls, 29 street stalls, and 130 underground stalls. The underground parking garage can be accessed from the west side of the Temple, ensuring visitors can enjoy a hassle-free experience.
Interestingly, this Temple is situated right across the street from the Box Elder Tabernacle and is built on the site where an old school once stood, further enriching its historical significance in the area. Notably, there is no meetinghouse in the same parking area, allowing the Temple to stand alone in its purpose and design.
