A Significant Announcement
The journey towards the Burley Idaho Temple began on April 4, 2021, when the Prophet Russell M. Nelson announced its construction during the 191st General Conference. At that time, Idaho had more than 460,000 Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, supported by 1,200 congregations. Early pioneers settled in Idaho as far back as 1855, paving the way for future generations to explore their faith.
Groundbreaking and Dedication
On June 4, 2022, the groundbreaking and site dedication were performed by Brent H. Nielsen. He reflected on the area’s natural abundance, stating, “It was just a few hundred yards from here where I learned to…love and enjoy life and the wonderful abundance that the Lord has blessed all who reside in this beautiful Magic Valley.” Hailing the importance of the land, he emphasized the prayer for an eternal harvest as the Burley Idaho Temple began to rise.
A Beautiful Open House
The public open house for the Temple took place from November 6 to November 22, 2025, allowing individuals to explore its beauty and significance before the dedication.
A Day of Dedication
The Temple was dedicated on January 11, 2026, by the Prophet Dallin H. Oaks, marking a pivotal moment in the spiritual life of the region.

Design and Exterior
Covering 10.12 acres, the Burley Idaho Temple features a stunning exterior finish of Bianco Sarda granite. The building boasts a single attached end spire, yet notably does not have a gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue. With a total area of 45,300 square feet, the Temple reaches a height of 172 feet and sits at an elevation of 4,188 feet.
Interior Design
Inside, the Temple boasts exquisite art glass patterns that highlight the blossoms and leaves of the potato plant, tying the design to the local agricultural heritage. A color palette of blue, gold, amber, cream, orange, peach, and green echoes the area’s farmland and open skies.
Elegant Finishes
Soft gold broadloom carpets and creamy white carpets mark the general and celestial areas, respectively, creating a serene atmosphere. Decorative light fixtures blend bronze, crystal, and faux alabaster, with crystal chandeliers illuminating key places, enhancing the overall elegance of the space.

Quarter-sawn sapele wood is used throughout the interior, including the doors, which are adorned with bronze hardware featuring a potato blossom design. The artistic elements reflect the breathtaking local landscape and the rich agricultural heritage of Idaho’s high plains.
