The journey of the Saratoga Springs Utah Temple began with its announcement by Prophet Thomas S. Monson on April 2, 2017, during General Conference. Groundbreaking took place on October 19, 2018, led by Craig C. Christensen. He spoke of the blessings this Temple would bring to families, marriages, and future generations, emphasizing its role in helping children and families connect with sacred covenants. The public open house ran for 84 days, from April 15, 2023, to July 8, 2023, culminating in the dedication by Apostle Henry B. Eyring on August 13, 2023.
Design and Architecture
Covering 22.71 acres, the Saratoga Springs Utah Temple is crafted from beige precast concrete panels, each measuring eight inches thick. Its spire, constructed from glass fiber reinforced concrete, features a gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue, a traditional element found in many Temples. The building is constructed of steel, concrete shear walls, and concrete floor slabs. A decorative band wraps around the exterior, incorporating a mountain design, along with representations of Utah Lake wetlands and snowy egrets, the latter being the logo of Saratoga Springs City.
The artistic features continue inside, where art glass stained windows draw inspiration from the Arts and Crafts movement. They showcase colors and forms reflecting the natural beauty of Utah Lake and the Wasatch Mountains through rich purples, blues, greens, and golds. Various textures are present throughout the space, including a combination of carpet, porcelain tile, ceramic tile, glass tile, and stone. Stunning carpets have intricate carved patterns unique to each area.
The exterior environment complements the Temple’s design. The plaza area, facing east, overlooks the valley and is enveloped by evergreens and mountain shrubs, creating a natural landscape that promotes sustainability. All local plant species were meticulously chosen to enhance the surroundings.

Inside, the Saratoga Springs Utah Temple includes four instruction rooms, six sealing rooms, and one baptistry. The baptistry features a font adorned with TREND Mosaic Brillante glass tiles in various shades of blues, whites, creams, and purples, complemented by antique brass railings and sapele African mahogany woodwork. Stylized wildflowers such as the iris, daisy, and chrysanthemum enhance the aesthetic, while elements representing water and waves pay homage to the nearby Wasatch Mountain Range and Utah Lake.
Art glass panels executed in the baptistry depict snowy egrets in wetlands and grasses, reflecting the city logo. They also show wave and water patterns that relate to Utah Lake, complemented by stylized gold shapes symbolizing birds and mountains. The decorative light fixtures in the bride’s room showcase a stunning Schonbek design.
In terms of craftsmanship, the millwork, doors, and standard wood materials continue the elegant theme, with many doors integrating art glass into their designs. Ceilings predominantly feature painted gypsum, with stepped ceilings adding depth and character, and custom ceiling medallions display floral designs that reflect the surrounding landscape.
