Celestial Room Inside the Lindon Utah Temple

Nearly six years in the making, the Lindon Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints opens its doors to the public this week. This highly anticipated event comes with excitement and a sense of pride within the local area.

The stunning edifice spans 87,005 square feet and features two iconic spires that grace the skyline. As the second Latter-day Saint Temple to have two baptismal fonts, this unique design will effectively double the number of proxy baptisms performed for deceased ancestors. The only other operating temple with a second baptistry is the Syracuse Temple. The renovated Salt Lake Temple and the future Smithfield Temple are also set to feature this innovative design.

General authority Seventy James R. Rasband, who serves as the assistant executive director of the church’s Temple Department, expressed the potential significance of the additional font. He remarked that it will particularly benefit youth in Lindon as they frequently participate in the activities associated with the Temple.

The Lindon Temple designers incorporated local elements into the design, reflecting the beauty of the surrounding area. For example, tributes to the linden tree—after which Lindon is named—are artistically represented throughout the building in features such as stained-glass windows and intricate interior engravings. The Lindon Utah Temple fits seamlessly into the neighborhood, serving as a heart for families and a touchstone of faith.

As the city of Lindon embraces its namesake in this new Temple, its dedication on May 3 will mark the establishment of the church’s 216th Temple worldwide. With 32 existing or planned Temples in beautiful state of Utah alone, this opening signals an important milestone in the continued growth of the faith.

The community can experience guided tours of the Lindon Temple from Thursday through April 11, excluding Sundays and the General Conference weekend on April 4-5. This moment marks not only the completion of a significant task but also a new avenue for members to deepen their connection to their faith and heritage.

Join the excitement and learn more about this beautiful addition to Lindon, where the essence of family and spirituality is beautifully intertwined.
