The holiday season is truly magical at the global headquarters of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where the iconic lights have become a cherished tradition. This year, visitors can experience Christ Centered displays and a variety of free activities that amplify the spirit of the season.
As renovations continue, more areas of Temple Square are now open to the public, offering a glimpse of the beauty to come. While the Salt Lake Temple is still undergoing renovations and remains closed (the grand reopening celebration is set for April 2027, the illuminated spaces around the square are glowing brighter than ever. You can immerse yourself in the holiday spirit daily from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. and again from 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. until January 1st.
The festive lights at Temple Square are accompanied by numerous other dazzling displays around downtown Salt Lake City, including the sparkling Christmas tree at City Creek Center, the whimsical candy windows at Macy’s, and the enchanting seasonal exhibit, “The Turning Season, in the Eccles Theater lobby. Dine in Style The Roof restaurant atop the Joseph Smith Memorial Building is now taking holiday reservations, perfect for a cozy meal with a view! The remodeled space has been welcoming guests since November 14th.
Explore History The Church History Museum boasts an array of festive activities, from musical performances by community and school groups in its auditorium to stunning Victorian Christmas decor in the Drawing Room. The Giving Machines in the lobby also provide a unique way to give back. Don’t miss out, the museum is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and until 8 p.m. on Tuesdays through Thursdays.
Artful Displays The Conference Center invites you to enjoy large Christmasthemed artwork on display through January, accessible during regular hours from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Soulful Sundays Join us for “Music and the Spoken Word every Sunday at 9:30 a.m. in the Conference Center. The special performance on December 14th, featuring Block and Arcelus, promises to be outstanding. Best of all, admission is free, and no tickets are needed!
Theatrical Highlights Experience the powerful “Savior of the World performance, running daily (except Sundays and Mondays) at 2 p.m. and 730 p.m. in the Conference Center’s Little Theater until December 27th. Although tickets are already distributed, a standby line will be available who knows, you might just get lucky!
