As you wander through Temple Square, you’ll find more areas open to the public this year, even as renovations continue around the iconic Salt Lake Temple. Just keep in mind that the temple grounds are still closed, but mark your calendars! An open house celebration is slated for April 2027, inviting everyone back to witness its grandeur.
The dazzling lights shine daily from 6 AM to 8 AM and again from 4:30 PM to 10 PM, all the way through January 1st. But that’s not all, get ready to explore the latest blend of holiday cheer in downtown Salt Lake City! Don’t miss the stunning Christmas tree at City Creek Center, the whimsical candy windows at Macy’s, the eye catching display The Turning Season at the Eccles Theater lobby, and the festive ice rink alongside the “Glow installation at Gallivan Center. Dining Delight Book a holiday reservation at The Roof restaurant, perched high atop the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. After an exciting remodel, it reopened on November 14th and offers breathtaking views alongside delectable dining.
History with a Twist Visit the Church History Museum at 60 W. North Temple, where you can enjoy musical performances from local community and school groups, marvel at the charming Victorian Christmas decor in the Drawing Room, and give back through the church’s Giving Machines in the lobby. The museum is open from 10 AM to 6 PM on Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and until 8 PM from Tuesday to Thursday.
