The holiday season is truly magical at the global headquarters of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where the beloved tradition of spectacular lights enchants visitors from near and far. Each evening, Temple Square transforms into a breathtaking winter wonderland, featuring Christ Centered displays and a plethora of free activities that invite everyone to celebrate.

This year, even more areas of Temple Square are open to the public as renovation efforts continue. While the scaffold covered Salt Lake Temple may be closed off for now, there’s exciting news on the horizon! An open house celebration is scheduled for April 2027, marking the grand reopening of the temple something truly to look forward to!

Want to experience the brilliance of the lights? You can wander the sparkling pathways of Temple Square daily from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and again from 4:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. through January 1st. And that’s not all! This season, the magic extends beyond Temple Squarecheck out downtown Salt Lake City, where the Christmas tree at City Creek Center, whimsical candy windows at Macy’s, the captivating “The Turning Season display at the Eccles Theater, and the festive ice rink and “Glow installation at Gallivan Center are all delighting visitors of all ages.

While you’re at Temple Square, don’t miss out on these festive events

The Roof Restaurant Located atop the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, this stunning venue is taking holiday reservations. After its recent remodel, it reopened on November 14th, setting the perfect backdrop for a holiday gathering.

Church History Museum Head over to 60 W. North Temple to enjoy musical performances that fill the auditorium with joy, marvel at Victorian Christmas decor in the Drawing Room, and check out the church’s Giving Machines in the lobby. The museum welcomes guests from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday.

The Conference Center Experience a feast for the eyes with large, Christmasthemed artwork displayed through January. It’s open for viewing from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday to Saturday.

“Music and the Spoken Word Join us Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. for this soulful performance at the Conference Center. The special show on December 14th will feature Block and Arcelus that you won’t want to miss. Best of all, admission is free no tickets required!

“Savior of the World Catch this theatrical experience performed daily (except Sundays and Mondays) at 2 p.m. and 730 p.m. in the Conference Center’s Little Theater until December 27th. While tickets have already been distributed, a standby line will be available in the Conference Center Plaza lobby, so there’s still a chance to snag a seat!

Concerts and Performances Throughout Temple Square, enjoy a wonderful lineup of concerts and nighttime performances featuring local school, missionary, and community choirs, as well as strings, flutes, guitars, and bell groups. Check the church’s website for the detailed schedule.
