The Burley Idaho Temple stands as the 212th dedicated Temple in operation. Nestled at 40 S 150 E Burley, Idaho 83318, it showcases a remarkable history and design that draws from its surrounding environment.
A Rich History
Announced on April 4, 2021, by Prophet Russell M. Nelson during the 191st General Conference, this Temple came forth at a time when Idaho had over 460,000 Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and 1,200 congregations. The pioneers who settled in Idaho in 1855 laid a foundation that continues to flourish today.
Groundbreaking and Dedication
On June 4, 2022, the groundbreaking and site dedication took place, led by Brent H. Nielsen. In his remarks, he reflected on the love for life and the abundance the Lord has provided to those in the Magic Valley. He noted, “When soil is turned and seeds are sown, a bountiful harvest is always expected.” This sentiment encapsulated the essence of turning the ground for the new house of the Lord.
The public open house ran from November 6, 2025, to November 22, 2025. The Burley Idaho Temple was officially dedicated on January 11, 2026, by Prophet Dallin H. Oaks.
Architectural Highlights
The Búrley Idaho Temple is constructed on 10.12 acres and features a total square footage of 45,300 square feet. Standing tall at 172 feet, it is finished with Bianco Sarda granite, giving it a distinct and elegant appearance. The design includes a single attached spire, devoid of a gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue.
Interior Design Details
Inside the Temple, the decor celebrates local agriculture, particularly the potato plant. Art glass patterns showcase the blossoms and leaves, while a color palette comprised of blue, gold, amber, cream, orange, peach, and green reflects the local farmland and open skies.
The soft gold broadloom carpets are found in the general areas, while creamy white carpets grace the celestial and sealing rooms. Decorative light fixtures incorporate bronze, crystal, and faux alabaster, casting a warm glow throughout the space. Crystal chandeliers create a sense of elegance in the brides’ room and sealing rooms.
Materials and Craftsmanship
Quarter-sawn sapele wood is used throughout the interior, contributing to the Temple’s inviting atmosphere. The interior doors are adorned with bronze hardware featuring a potato blossom design, melding local heritage with refined craftsmanship.
