The Ephraim Utah Temple: A Spiritual House Coming to Central Utah

The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has officially announced exciting news for members and friends in central Utah. The Ephraim Utah Temple is set to open its doors, bringing a sacred religious facility to the Sanpete Valley region.

Key Announcement Details

The announcement regarding the Ephraim Utah Temple came on May 1, 2021, marking an important moment for the area. The actual groundbreaking and site dedication took place on August 27, 2022, conducted by the Prophet Russell M. Nelson, signifying the official commencement of construction for this significant undertaking.

Location and Physical Specifications

The Ephraim Utah Temple will be located at 400 East 200 North, Ephraim, Utah 84627. Situated at an elevation of 5,567 feet, the Temple will encompass 39,000 square feet of dedicated space designed for spiritual purposes and religious ceremonies.

Temple Features and Capacity

The architectural design includes several important functional areas:

  • Four instruction rooms with a seating capacity of 30 people each
  • Three sealing rooms for sacred ordinances
  • One baptistry for baptismal services

These rooms have been carefully planned to serve the religious needs of the surrounding area.

Public Preview and Tours

The rendering of the Ephraim Utah Temple was released to the public on March 4, 2022, allowing people to visualize the completed facility.

A media day for the Ephraim Utah Temple will be held on Monday, August 31, 2026, followed by private tours for invited guests on Tuesday, September 1.

Public tours will be available from September 2 through September 19, 2026 (Sundays excluded), giving the region an opportunity to experience the Temple’s beautiful interior spaces.

Dedication Ceremony

Elder Ronald A. Rasband of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will preside at the dedication on Sunday, October 11, at 10 a.m., with a rebroadcast at 2 p.m. The dedicatory session will be broadcast to all units in the Ephraim Utah Temple district.

The completion of the Ephraim Utah Temple represents a tremendous blessing for the Saints in central Utah and demonstrates the Church’s continued commitment to expanding its presence throughout the region.
