Exciting Developments for the Teresina Brazil Temple
On April 2, 2023, during the 194th General Conference, President Russell M. Nelson announced the highly anticipated Teresina Brazil Temple. This new addition is expected to enhance spiritual experiences for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Brazil.
Key Details
Located at the intersection of Avenida Cajuína and Rua Pedro Conde in Teresina, Piauí, this impressive facility will occupy a spacious 3.6-acre site. Encompassing approximately 25,420 square feet, the Teresina Brazil Temple will feature a single attached central spire, marking it as a notable presence in the area. Interestingly, it will not include a gold-leafed Angel Moroni on its summit, setting it apart from some other Temples.
The groundbreaking and site dedication are scheduled for April 18, 2026, with Elder Ciro Schmeil presiding over the ceremonies. This event marks a significant milestone for the project, as it moves forward into the construction phase.
The exterior of the Teresina Brazil Temple will be crafted from granite, ensuring durability and beauty. Set at an elevation of 213 feet, it promises to be a striking feature of the local skyline.
A rendering of the Temple was made public on February 23, 2026, capturing the architectural vision of this new facility. With Brazil home to more than 1.5 million Latter-day Saints, the addition of the Teresina Brazil Temple is a welcome development in enhancing spiritual opportunities in the region.
