The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced exciting news for members and friends in the Ephraim area. The long-awaited Ephraim Utah Temple is coming to fruition, bringing sacred religious services directly to the heart of Sanpete County.
An Official Announcement and Timeline
On May 1, 2021, Church leaders officially announced plans for the Ephraim Utah Temple, setting the stage for what would become a transformative addition to the region. Just over a year later, on August 27, 2022, Prophet Russell M. Nelson presided over the groundbreaking and site dedication ceremony, officially launching construction efforts for this significant undertaking.
Location and Physical Specifications
The Ephraim Utah Temple will be located at 400 East 200 North, Ephraim, Utah 84627, making it conveniently accessible for residents throughout central Utah. The Temple will rise to an elevation of 5,567 feet above sea level, nestled in the picturesque landscape of Sanpete Valley.
The Temple will encompass 39,000 square feet of space, providing ample room for the various religious ordinances and services that will be performed within its walls.
What to Expect Inside
The architectural design includes four instruction rooms, with each capable of seating 30 people comfortably. Additionally, the Temple will feature three sealing rooms and a single baptistry, creating a complete facility for the full range of sacred ordinances offered in Latter-day Saint Temples.
Looking Ahead: The Dedication
Architectural renderings of the Temple were first released to the public on March 4, 2022, giving members a glimpse of what to expect. Now, as completion draws near, a media day has been scheduled for Monday, August 31, 2026, followed by private tours for invited guests on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
This new Temple represents a significant spiritual milestone for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Utah and will serve members in the region for generations to come.
