The Elko, Nevada Temple spans 5.2 acres and features a striking design with a single central tower, crafted from white Mount Airy granite. Groundbreaking and site dedication took place on May 7, 2022, followed by an open house from August 30 to September 13, 2025, and its dedication on October 12, 2025, by Gary E. Stevenson. Standing at 108 feet tall and covering 12,901 square feet, the temple is nestled at an elevation of 5,133 feet. As Nevada’s third temple, after Las Vegas and Reno, it holds significance especially as it was dedicated shortly after President Russell M. Nelson’s passing in September 2025. The temple’s history traces back to Nevada’s church roots in 1855 and the formation of the first stake in Elko County in 1942, reflecting a deep community legacy. Announced in June 2021, the temple project was led by Elder Paul B. Pieper during the groundbreaking ceremony, emphasizing love, gratitude, and service. The design incorporates cultural motifs inspired by Paiute and Shoshone heritage, with vibrant colors reflecting Elko’s landscape. Interior elements feature elegant lighting, with brass accents, glass, and custom hardware, creating a warm and inviting spiritual space. This beautiful temple stands as a testament to faith, community, and cultural heritage in Nevada.
