Ephraim Utah Temple: A New Addition to the Landscape of Sanpete County

Excitement is palpable in Ephraim, Utah, as the construction of the Ephraim Utah Temple has recently reached completion. Located at 400 East 200 North in Ephraim, this remarkable facility stands on 9.16 acres, with a striking design that features two graceful end towers. Notably, it foregoes the customary gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue, setting it apart from many others.

The journey to its completion began with an announcement on May 1, 2021, heralding a new chapter for residents and those connected to this vibrant area. August 27, 2022, marked a significant milestone as the ground was broken by the Prophet Russell M. Nelson. During the site dedicatory prayer, he reflected on his roots, stating, “My dear mother was born in Ephraim, not far from this very temple site. My father was born in Manti. Three of my four grandparents were born here in Ephraim.” His heartfelt words emphasized the importance of honoring one’s ancestors and understanding their contributions to our lives.

The Ephraim Utah Temple spans an impressive 39,000 square feet and sits at an elevation of 5,567 feet. It features four endowment rooms capable of seating 30 individuals each, three sealing rooms, and a single baptistry, allowing for a range of sacred activities and ceremonies.

On March 4, 2022, the architectural rendering of this impressive addition was unveiled to the public. With its completion, the Ephraim Utah Temple will proudly hold the distinction of being the 27th Temple in Utah and the second in Sanpete County, joining the Manti Utah Temple within the boundaries of Manti High School.

This new space is poised to serve as a meaningful place for individuals and families to explore their faith, reflect, and engage in a variety of enriching experiences. As this chapter unfolds, the Ephraim Utah Temple stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of faith and community that defines this corner of Utah.

Whether you’re a longtime resident or a newcomer to Ephraim, there’s a palpable sense of hope, devotion, and anticipation surrounding this new addition to the local landscape.
