Exciting News: Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple Is Coming!

Mark your calendars, everyone! The Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple is set to transform the skyline of Provo, Utah, and we couldn’t be more excited about it!

A Vision Come to Life

The announcement of the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple, made by Prophet Russell M. Nelson on October 3, 2021, has ignited a wave of anticipation throughout the community. Dreams of a beautiful new house of worship are becoming a reality, and we can hardly wait!

Expansive & Elegant

Built on an impressive 17-acre site—with an increase from the original 15 acres, thanks to the removal of the road at the old location—the new Rock Canyon Temple will be indispensable for our growing community. Not only will it be a stunning sanctuary for worship, but it will also feature a central spire, standing tall at a breathtaking 265 feet 6 inches.

Unlike its predecessor, this new temple will not sport the traditional gold-leafed Angel Moroni; instead, the one from the original temple remains safely in storage. Nonetheless, the granite exterior promises an air of timeless elegance that will surely captivate the viewers from near and far.

A Temple for All

Spanning an impressive 163,000 square feet, the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple will be the sixth such structure in the state. As of the last estimate, there are roughly 16.8 million members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints globally, with about 500 congregations in Utah alone. The new temple will play a vital role in serving this burgeoning community.

No Shared Parking, Plenty of Access

While the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple will not share a parking lot with a meeting house, don’t worry! There is ample parking available just off to the corner across the street, making it convenient for visitors and worshippers alike.

From Announcement to Reality

The excitement has been palpable since the rendering was released to the public on November 24, 2021. Construction officially kicked off on February 24, 2024, bringing us one step closer to the grand opening expected in late 2027.

The elevation of this magnificent temple—approximately 4,876 feet above sea level—adds to its majesty, providing stunning views of the surrounding landscapes, making it not just a place of worship but also a landmark to behold!

A New Era for Provo

Though it was previously called the Provo Utah Temple, the new name—Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple—was officially recognized on February 20, 2024. This change marks a new era for the community and emphasizes the temple’s integration into the landscape of the area.

As we gear up for the grand unveiling of the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple, the excitement is palpable! The future looks bright, and we can’t wait to see how this new temple will enrich the lives of members and visitors alike. Whether you are a lifelong resident or a first-time visitor, the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple promises to be a stunning addition to our beautiful city.

Stay tuned for more updates, and let’s continue to celebrate this forthcoming beacon of light and faith!
