LDS Temple News is excited to highlight an important milestone with the upcoming Farmington, New Mexico, Temple, which will stand as the second of its kind in the state for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. President Russell M. Nelson initiated this inspiring project in April 2021, and we recently celebrated a significant step forward with a groundbreaking ceremony led by Elder Anthony D. Perkins on April 30, 2022. This new temple will be constructed on a beautiful 6.62-acre site at the intersection of College Boulevard and Windsor Drive, providing a welcoming and accessible space for the community. Spanning approximately 25,000 square feet, the single-story sanctuary will include a community meetinghouse, fostering connection and outreach. The design of the temple is thoughtfully crafted to honor local heritage, incorporating American influences and native flora to celebrate the vibrant culture of the surrounding community. This project reflects our commitment to building a supportive and inclusive environment for all and will undoubtedly enrich the lives of those who interact with it.
