Get ready for an exciting update from Fort Worth, Texas! On Saturday, October 28, 2023, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Fort Worth Texas Temple took place, and it was a day to remember! Elder Jose L. Alonso, a General Authority Seventy and First Counselor in the North America Southwest Area Presidency, led the festivities with enthusiasm. During his touching dedicatory prayer, he shared heartfelt words, saying, “Our hearts are full of appreciation for the treasured gift of Thy Beloved Son, Jesus Christ. His divine mission offers hope and purpose. Through His atonement, we find comfort during difficult times, and through His grace, we are empowered with strength and encouragement to serve our neighbors.” It truly set a joyous tone for the day!
If you haven’t seen the temple’s design yet, you’re in for a treat! Since October 31, 2022, when the public got its first peek at the official exterior rendering, people have been buzzing about its stunning charm. Nestled on about 9.37 acres just north of SW Hulen Street and Greenridge Drive in Burleson, this single-story temple is set to be approximately 30,000 square feet—plenty of room to welcome everyone for worship!
The excitement all began when President Russell M. Nelson announced the temple’s construction during the October 2021 General Conference. This marks the sixth temple in Texas, a state proudly home to over 360,000 Latter-day Saints! Imagine being able to celebrate this beautiful new house of worship situated northwest of Dallas, surrounded by the rich landscape at an elevation of 768 feet.
And if you’re curious about what to expect, just think of the nearby Fort Collins Colorado Temple, which boasts two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry. The Fort Worth Texas Temple promises its own unique flair and features that will surely captivate everyone who visits!
