On January 8, 1999, the First Presidency made the exciting announcement about the establishment of a Temple in Fresno. This pivotal moment involved Presidents Gordon B. Hinckley, Thomas S. Monson, and James E. Faust communicating the news through a letter to local priesthood leaders in California. The groundbreaking and site dedication took place shortly thereafter, on March 20, 1999, led by John B. Dickson.
A significant milestone arrived when the public open house occurred from March 25, 2000, through April 4, 2000, attracting approximately 51,000 attendees. Finally, the Fresno California Temple was dedicated on April 9, 2000, by the Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley, who expressed, “This is the Lord’s house, and it shall be called by His name.”

The Temple is elegantly built on 2.34 acres and encompasses 10,850 square feet. Standing at a height of 71 feet and located at an elevation of 319 feet, it is a single-story building. The exterior is clad in White Sierra granite quarried in Raymond, California, giving it a refined appearance.
