Details on the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple Most People Mistake

The Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple stands as a testament to growth and dedication within the community. Announced on October 3, 2021, by Prophet Russell M. Nelson, this Temple represents an important development for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the region. Photos below taken July 20, 2026.

Key Features and Specifications

The site for the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple covers 17 acres, a slight increase from the previous location, which was 15 acres. This expansion was made possible by the removal of the road that previously ran in front of the old Temple. The Temple is designed to be a large facility, covering an impressive 163,000 square feet and standing tall at an elevation of approximately 4,876 feet (1,486 meters) above sea level.

Exterior Design and Construction

The exterior of the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple will feature granite cladding, with only the lower half installed to date. The Temple will have a single attached central spire, notably without a gold-leafed Angel Moroni, which is currently in storage. All outer windows have been installed, although the art glass remains pending.

  • Construction commenced on February 24, 2024, and the Temple is expected to be completed by late 2027.
  • A rendering was released to the public on November 24, 2021, giving a glimpse of what is to come.

Landscaping and Surroundings

Work on the landscaping is already underway, with trees planted around the perimeter and sod placed. Improvements around the area include various waterscapes and substantial rock landscaping. While the landscaping is still being refined, much has already been accomplished, adding to the visual appeal of the surrounding grounds.

Parking and Accessibility

Unlike many new Temples, the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple will not have a meetinghouse within the same parking lot; however, ample parking will be available on-site. This thoughtful design aims to accommodate the needs of those who attend.

Important Location Details

The Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple will be located at 2200 Temple Hill Dr, Provo, UT 84604.

As construction progresses, the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple continues to bring excitement and anticipation for its eventual completion, paving the way for a new chapter in the history of the local area.
