Prepare to be amazed by the Grand Junction Colorado Temple, a true architectural marvel that commands attention across 7.93 acres! Towering at 118 feet, its striking central spire is a defining feature at an elevation of 4,962 feet, making it an iconic landmark in the region.
The excitement began on April 4, 2021, when Prophet Russell M. Nelson unveiled the plans for this magnificent Temple during the 191st Annual General Conference. This moment was a landmark for the Latter-day Saints community, which has a rich history in Colorado dating back to 1896. With over 150,000 members and approximately 310 congregations, the demand for this Temple has been palpable. As the third Temple in Colorado, it is set to be a significant spiritual Temple.
Strategically located on a picturesque 6.94-acre site at the busy intersection of Horizon Drive and North 12th Street—just a stone’s throw from an Interstate 70 interchange—the Temple’s positioning is as remarkable as its design. The official exterior rendering, revealed on September 17, 2021, generated tremendous excitement about what awaits.
On April 16, 2022, Elder Chi Hong (Sam) Wong of the Quorum of the Seventy confidently led the groundbreaking ceremony, signaling the start of an impressive new chapter. This expansive 29,630 square foot Temple will radiate spiritual significance and beauty unique to the region. Elder Wong’s dedicatory prayer, offered before Easter Sunday, expressed profound gratitude for the Atonement of Jesus Christ, dedicating this sacred ground with a vision for future generations.
Mark your calendars for September 8, 2025! On that day, we’ll host an exhilarating media day, followed by two exclusive days of tours for invited guests, and then an open invitation for public tours from September 11 to September 27. The grand dedication on October 19, 2025, led by President Jeffrey R. Holland, will be broadcast to all temple district units, uniting the community in jubilant reverence.
